Hubballi Police Crackdown: 15 Arrested, Over 3 Kilograms of Ganja Seized in Major Drug Bust
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: The twin cities police have continued their crackdown on ganja peddlers and consumers. In a major breakthrough, the Old Hubballi police arrested several individuals involved in smuggling and consuming the banned substance. The police seized 1,500 grams of ganja worth Rs 1.25 lakh, six mobile phones, and Rs 2,000 in cash from them.
Acting on a definite tip-off, the police conducted a raid near Leprosy Hospital, where they apprehended the suspects consuming ganja.
The arrested individuals are: Ashfaq Mulla, a resident of Miraj; Shivakumar Tumakur; Iqbal Ahmed Mudgal; Arif Galgali; Abhishek Devamane; Amrut Havalad; Mohammed Rehan Gokak; Sadiq Kitabwale; and Mehaboobsab Dougi Makandar, all residents of Old Hubballi.
The Hubballi Suburban police have arrested a total of eight individuals, including ganja sellers, buyers, and consumers. Recently, the Suburban police apprehended a ganja consumer near the Hanuman Temple in Shanti Nagar. During the inquiry, it was revealed that another ganja user, Rakesh Naik, a resident of Gopankoppa, Keshwapur, was involved.
Upon interrogating Rakesh, the police uncovered the names of ganja suppliers: Maruti Gangappa Sabarad, a resident of Manikilla, Dharwad; Ganapathasa Athani, a resident of Kamaripet, Hubballi; and Chandrappa Kammar, a resident of Nuggikeri, Dharwad. These accused were arrested on Monday, and the police seized 1,576 grams of ganja from them. Authorities also confiscated an Ather electric vehicle and four mobile phones.
In addition to apprehending these three sellers, the police also arrested three more individuals who purchased ganja from them. The buyers are: Ganesh Yadav, a resident of Kumareshwar Nagar, Dharwad; Ramesh Madar, a resident of Devagiri, Dharwad; and Nitin Medar, a resident of Kelageri, Dharwad.
